SIT Study Abroad: Morocco - Human Rights, Social Justice, and Cultural Transformation

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned so much about Morocco and about being a global student during my time in Rabat. It was so interesting to learn about the ways that post-Arab Spring Morocco has shaped its identity within the larger context of the MENA region and within its proximity to Europe.

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I wish I had spent more time preparing my Arabic language skills. While it is completely possible to live in Morocco without any Arabic knowledge, my time in Rabat would have been even more fulfilling if I had had some previous Arabic knowledge. The program did a great job of setting up beginning Arabic student with basic knowledge and language phrases so that I felt relatively confident communicating with my host family and with other Moroccans, but it was still very obvious that my language skills were lacking.
