About

This remote online internship and seminar will focus on the role of local and community-based organizations and international aid organizations in responding to the refugee crisis in Jordan. You will assist local and international relief efforts by interning online at an organization providing services to refugees and vulnerable communities in Jordan such as the Rescue Committee, Save the Children, the Institute for Family Health, and the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development. You’ll learn about the objectives, priorities, standards, and procedures of humanitarian health responses during emergency and post-emergency phases of humanitarian crises. The internship will help you understand the priorities of refugee relief sectors, including water supply, sanitation and hygiene; food security and nutrition; shelter, protection and health response. In addition, you’ll learn about conflict-related trauma and psychological challenges of displacement and integration. During your internship, you will be introduced to the guidelines of counseling, psychosocial interventions that promote resilience and recovery in displaced and disaster-stricken populations. HIGHLIGHTS Gain valuable practical experience in humanitarian aid and psychosocial support. Learn and develop critical professional skills in a supportive environment. Participate in weekly group reflection and assessments with your academic director. Contribute to the work of important health or social justice organizations in SIT’s extensive network.
