Paradise Interns: Digital Marketing and Scuba Diving Internships in Indonesia

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned so many new skills during the marketing bootcamp, and then was able to spend five months applying and solidifying that new knowledge in a very hands on manner.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 6 months+

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The bootcamp month (first month) was such a steep learning curve for me, as I had no prior knowledge of anything digital marketing related. Even though it was intense and all new information, I still felt supported and was able to ask questions whenever needed. The learning continued in the following five months at my placement, though the intensity lessened. It was really cool being able to apply all the skills we learned in the bootcamp to real life!

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Housing is up to you! But can't really go wrong with the bootcamp in a beautiful villa in Bali, followed by five months on Gil Trawangan.

* Food:

Food is also up to you! The food in Bali and the Gilis is amazing and there are options for every budget. From $1 nasi campur (mixed rice) to beautiful smoothie bowls and avo toast, they have everything!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The locals in Indonesia are some of the nicest people i have ever met. Try to learn some bahasa, a little goes a long way!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Gili Trawangan (where I was placed), and Indonesia as a whole, is incredibly safe. Not once during my internship did I feel slightly unsafe.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Food and drinks are so cheap here! Rent is also incredibly cheap!

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No
