About

Students in this program will be able to gain an in-depth knowledge of South African history and current social issues through scholarly texts and participation in community-based development projects.
Several contemporary issues in South Africa demand an understanding of the history that shaped race relations and a social structure where access and opportunity were determined by membership in a “racial group.”  We will look at these issues through different lenses and in various settings – academic, social and in local community development projects in urban and rural areas.
