ISA Study Abroad in Sevilla, Spain

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I am now planning on minoring in Spanish because of my experience. Also, by going abroad, I have learned to open up and be more extroverted than introverted.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

They were awesome! Anything you needed to know, they would help you in finding the answer. They went the extra mile for their students!

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I loved my host family! I was incorporated into their lives and their home as if I were their own child. We created a bond that was of a loving family. I will never forget them, and will always consider them my second family. They did all in their power to make me feel safe, comfortable and welcome. I absolutely love them and would suggest a home stay to anyone!

* Food:

The quality and quantity was very good. I never was underfed, always had too much to even finish the entire plate! Go to as many tapas bars as possible to really get a sense of the cuisine. Especially La Gitana, Habanita, Petra, igana oriza.....everywhere was great!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I traveled to 9 countries while abroad....enough is said in that statement!..(Spain,Italy,Portugal,Ireland,Gibraltar,Germany,Belgium,Netherlands,Africa)

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Very safe in general, but as with anywhere in the world you have to be careful at night; try not to walk alone. If you don't put yourself in a bad situation, you will be ok.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
Language acquisition improvement?

I practiced the language with everyone from my host family, to teachers, to friends I made at a local gym, and random people in streets or in bars.
