I fell in love with the city we call Sevilla! Past Review

By (Internationa Business, St. Edward's University) for

ISA Study Abroad in Sevilla, Spain

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned that I can be more open minded about things. Also, I was told that the people in my host country were not so nice- totally false!! They are extremely great people!

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

It was great! The grading system was different, but not difficult to understand. I loved taking a class in my host country's language!

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

They were just overall great people and very attentive to our needs.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

You must try Paella! Also, make sure to tell your host mother, or whoever cooks the food in the household what you do NOT like. If you do not speak up about what you do not like, you will more than likely see it during your time abroad, and in any case, it is pretty rude to decline food.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Night out with the Spaniards. This was a great way to interact with locals as well as practice your Spanish.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Sevilla is a safe city overall, but regardless I recommend to use the buddy system, especially if you do not speak/understand the language very well.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
Language acquisition improvement?

My host family, professor, and group.

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Living in Spain was great! I wish I could have stayed a whole semester. One thing I strongly advise is to have a budget. This will help keep you in check. Also, get out and try to meet locals, do not stick with your American group. I know it might be scary to branch out, but this will make your experience 10x better! Wherever you decide to study, I can guarantee it is an experience of a lifetime!
