Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I felt like the Arabic language program should have been more intense, really making us use the language in and out of class.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The program size was perfect and a great bunch of people.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The host family was the greatest part of the program in learning about customs and culture, sometimes we didn't have as much free rein as we would have liked, but that just meant that we were really part of the family. The neighborhood we lived in was very safe and well protected

* Food:

My host mom made the best food I ever tasted!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

All of our trips taken with our archeology class was unforgetable and our excursions were perfect. I wish in Fez we could have seen more historical things rather than be taken to all the places to shop at.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Girls need to be more aware of what to expect and what to wear. I came adaqutately prepared, but my roommate did not anticipate what would be appropriate attire causing more attention than was necessary.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
Language acquisition improvement?

I practiced my language with my host family, but trying to use MSA with a family who really only spoke Derija was super onfusing. A lot of the students only spoke English or French.

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
