By (Mechanical Engineering, Western New England University) for

ISA Study Abroad in London, England

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes it really was the time of my life. I enjoyed every single moment of it through good times and bad. I definitely plan on coming back maybe on a more permanent basis!

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The teaching method was a lot different than I was used to. The classes are much larger and you do not have a close relationship with every professor you have. Also compared to my host university, the engineering modules I took abroad have less lab based classes. There is only one lab per module per semester. Whereas at my home university it was more hands on learning.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Coleman was very knowledgable, and he was always available to meet or just to chat. He was very interested in you're wellbeing and making sure you are doing ok and having a good time. He also gave us a tour on the first day and showed us some local places, that was incredibly useful to know where things are and have places to go to from day one.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

The best thing to do is buy groceries and cook as much as possible. This cuts down on the cost of living abroad quite significantly! Although it is good to try the local pubs and restaurants. Most of them will have good food at reasonable prices.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The events coordinated by my program were excellent. It was great to meet people right away! And those people would always meet up a few times, it was a nice way to make friends even if you are a bit shy.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt very safe at all times, there was never really an issue with safety just be smart and have common sense.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)
