What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Definitely worth it. I gained a handful of lifetime friends and a new appreciation for other cultures. A person must be aware though, Going to Peru will give you the travel bug and one will never want to stop.

School and the teaching style was completely different. It was a little difficult to adjust to.

The administration are wonderful people. They would go to any length to help comfort you and your needs.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I highly recommend living with a host family. It is not as awkward as a person thinks it will be. Living with a family allowed me to learn the language and culture more completely.

* Food:

Try everything you can! Peruvians know how to combine flavors and spices to make amazing dishes. There was barely anything I did not like.

My class, host family, and friends. Yes. Most of the younger generation knew English but Spanish was still necessary for everyday interactions.

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Go with an open heart and mind. The number one advice is to go with patience. Things may go awry but there is always a loving Person in the program who will be there to help you.
