About
With IPSL choose a German language program in three amazing cities: Berlin, Cologne, and Halle. Financial Aid is available for eligible students. IPSL accepts AmeriCorps Segal Education awards, too.
BERLIN: Germany’s capital and largest city has it all: from grungy underground discos to champagne-soaked art gallery openings. Berlin is both a vibrant, cutting-edge metropolis and a reminder of Germany’s turbulent past, with history at every turn.

COLOGNE (Köln): Despite being Germany’s “oldest city”, Cologne is generally known for its liberal, laid-back culture, combining Roman history and medieval architecture with beers halls, carnivals, and a chocolate museum. Not only are Cologne’s inhabitants friendly and welcoming, but they also know how to have a good time.
HALLE (Salle): Few other places have such a high concentration of the good things in life than Halle and its historic, largely intact city center. There is an enthralling contrast between the grand old buildings lining beautiful squares and the youthful buzz of this old-yet-young city. There is a sense of history wherever you look yet it is somehow contemporary with bustling cafés, restaurants, and bars.

Whichever city you choose (& you can choose more than one!), you will be learning German at award winning, accredited, language schools that IPSL has partnered with. Together with our director you will decide the type of classes you prefer (private or small group), how many hours you want to study, where you want to live (home stays or apartments generally), among many other things that each school offers.
IPSL has emphasized language learning since 1981 because they know that higher levels of language proficiency can facilitate a more rewarding international experience. Being able to communicate with people in their language increases your ability to make meaning out of the experiences you have while abroad. In addition, merely making the effort to learn someone else's language is a demonstrative way to show people that you care and are interested in who they are and often paves the way to long-lasting friendships. And of course, students need to know at least one other language to compete in today’s global job market. For these reasons and more, IPSL Global Institute offers this exceptional Language and Volunteering program in Germany.
