Overall Experience
Past Review La Dolce Vita
I gained a deeper appreciation for the Italian people and culture. This appreciation and understanding furthered my love for other cultures and my desire to explore and experience various cultures and lifestyles. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
Past Review Home Sweet Rome!
Say YES to Rome!! - Trinity University View Entire Review
Being away from the culture and support group you are familiar with is challenging but enriching. It helps you to see yourself and the world from a different perspective. - Pacific Lutheran University View Entire Review

My study abroad experience has motivated me to find jobs or pursue further education abroad. I learned a lot of things about myself: that I am smarter and more resourceful than I give myself credit for, not knowing a language doesn't mean you can't communicate, and there are people in this world who are genuine and can help you ... - Trinity University View Entire Review
Definitely. But I credit myself and my parents for that. Not my program. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
Te experience itself was amazing and I would do it all over again if I could but I would not choose IES. - Trinity University View Entire Review
My experience has made me much more culturally aware and made me realize not to make generalizations or stereotypes and people of different culture. I was able to travel to different countries and see beautiful museums which I would not have been able to do unless abroad, that contributed to my experience greatly. My art history... - Austin College View Entire Review
Past Review
I would definitely choose to go to Italy again but maybe not with IES... It was really easy to just interact with other American students. If you want to just hang out and be merry in Italy, then go with IES but if you are really looking for a big cultural experience, go somewhere else. - Ithaca College View Entire Review
It was absolutely worthwhile. I gained an appreciation for other cultures as well a stronger appreciation for America. I definitely want to travel more when I am older and see more of Europe. This trip showed me that I can do anything that I set my mind to whether in America or abroad. - Ithaca College View Entire Review
Yes yes yes. I was able to move past the "tourist" phase by spending so much time in one city. I felt like I really got to invest myself in a people group. I went as a history/religion double major and came back even more confident that I had chosen the right path. It was just a wonderful experience overall. - Hope College View Entire Review
yes, but ies had little to do with this beyond giving me a good place to live. - Temple University View Entire Review
A student studying abroad with IES Abroad: Rome - Rome Center
I think quite simply it just opened me up much more and exposed me to a world I didn't know existed. It not only expanded my personal boundaries by forcing me to change, adapt, and extend my comfort zone, but also my boundaries of the world. I had never really even left Minnesota much before, and here I was in a foreign land. ... - University of Minnesota - Twin Cities View Entire Review
Past Review I Love Romee
100% - Trinity University View Entire Review
I wish I could have stayed abroad longer. It really changed my life and I wish I could go to other places in the world, and not be a tourist. - University of Rochester View Entire Review
I had the time of my life in Italy. I learned to appreciate my heritage, while also gaining perspective on my life in America. The confidence I gained from being able to survive on my own in a foreign culture made a great impact on my future plans and decisions. I chose to travel abroad again and again, at every opportunity, ... - Ithaca College View Entire Review
Past Review
Studying abroad in Rome was an experience I will never forget. The people I met in Rome will always have a place in my heart. Living in Italy has made me realize that material things aren't as important as they seem. I think I learned to appreciate the more simple things in life. Italians thrive when it comes to relationships an... - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
Past Review
Studying abroad made me more confident and increased my global awareness. The food was great, as were all the historical sights. It was really neat to try out a different way of living, even if most of it didn't stick. I was able to take classes that counted towards general education requirements at home. Push yourself out of yo... - Ithaca College View Entire Review
