What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned how to take a chance and allow myself to fail or feel humility as learning a foreign language should never be about getting it perfect every single time but working through the small inconsistencies.

The courses were incredibly relevant to Granada and allowed me to be challenged while being educated about where I was studying abroad.

Granada is incredibly safe to walk the streets no matter what time of day - there were always people out and about so I never felt unsafe.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Granada is very inexpensive especially with the tapas culture

How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

Classes that in Spanish were conducted completely in Spanish and many of the host families did not speak much English

  • The location!

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? What my host mom always said was to take advantage of everything - while it was important to enjoy down time, there were so many things I wish I could do or do one more time and to be determined to participate in activities as opposed to pushing them off.
