By (Brandeis University) - abroad from 01/22/2019 to 05/18/2019 with

IES Abroad: Granada - Study Abroad with IES Abroad

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned how to take a chance and allow myself to fail or feel humility as learning a foreign language should never be about getting it perfect every single time but working through the small inconsistencies.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

  • Food (esp from my host family)
* What could be improved?
  • Connection to University activities
  • Option for dinner at host family (required to eat on our own)
  • Ability to stay at host family during Semana Santa
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? What my host mom always said was to take advantage of everything - while it was important to enjoy down time, there were so many things I wish I could do or do one more time and to be determined to participate in activities as opposed to pushing them off.
