Center for Study Abroad (CSA): Fez - Intensive Arabic & Islamic Courses Summer

This summer study Arabic language and Islamic culture in Fez, Morocco. Summer program is 3 wks and 6 wks. In collaboration with the University of Fez, Al Akhawayn, Meknes University, as well as the American University center of Provence. Courses are available at all levels, and taught by highly qualified university professors. Housing is with a local host family in Fez, and activities focus on Arabic, Islam, gender, the histories, and cultures of the area from North Africa to the Middle East. Overall, the program seeks to teach Arabic language and Islamic culture to have students better understand the Moroccan Muslim cultures. Excursions are also included (educational guided) to allow students to discover the Moroccan landscapes, desert, and monuments. In addition. a “Cultural Club” is organized for Moroccan and foreign students to get together in an informal way to share cultures and celebrate the Moroccan heritage and practice Arabic. Cultural workshops are also presented in Moroccan Music & Dance, Arabic Calligraphy, and Guest Speaker seminars.
Language courses are taught in Arabic. Cultural lectures are given in English.
Facility is located in the prestigious residential area of old Medina, and fully equipped including air conditioning, a library, cafeteria, and internet computer room. 24 hr security.
Housing included, and meals with host family. Airport pick-up also included. Minimum age is 18 yrs.
