Study Abroad in Sevilla! Past Review

CEA CAPA Education Abroad: Seville, Spain

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I loved my study abroad experience! I learned how to become more independent and enjoy what life has to offer. In America we have different priorities and studying abroad has definitely made me question some of them. I got to figure myself out and gain a better understanding of people from other areas of the world.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The grading system was a lot more intense than the grading system in America. Some of the professors had unrealistic expectations, as we were not native speakers.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

I feel as though the program was very unorganized and did not offer the perks that other programs offered. If I would do it again, I would choose a different program.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I loved my family, but there were too many other students living there while I was staying with them for a semester. Everyone was very nice, but the turn over rate for students was incredible.

* Food:

Always a ton of food!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I got to travel a lot and experience the life outside of the classroom. I enjoyed living life as a "Spaniard"

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt safe walking by myself. At night, it was always nice to be with other students just in case something were to happen.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

I practiced with my family and a few friends. I spoke a lot of English. I wish I would have spoke Spanish more often.

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • The staff was very friendly and approachable.
* What could be improved?
  • More organization!
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I loved Sevilla and would recommend studying there! As for the program, I would have done it again with someone else. I loved the people that worked for CEA, but I felt as though it was unorganized. The people are nice, caring, and know you by name, but I would have liked to experience a different program that was a little more organized.
