What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was so worthwhile. I gained independence and a lot of confidence. I was so happy in Spain and loved the opportunities I had to travel. I absolutely plan to return to Spain and other places in Europe.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The classes were very interesting. The workload wasn't too bad, and I learned a lot. The teachers were so interesting and involved us and got to know us personally.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The faculty were young and very helpful. I was able to go to them for anything I needed. They were responsive to emails and other things I needed help with.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I lived with 4 other students in my program. The rooms were small, but comfortable. Students from before left a lot of the essentials and decorations. They left books and a blow drier which was very nice to have. I felt very safe there in the neighborhood. Something that would have been nice is if there were other students from the program in the apartment.

* Food:

The program didn't supply any food, but the food in Barcelona was great. There were nice, expensive restaurants, but there were also local places that were really great and inexpensive.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The program provided lots of opportunities for events and gave other opportunities as well. We took a group trip to Valencia, Spain, which was amazing and so much fun. We went to see a flamenco show, on a yacht ride, a bus tour throughout Barcelona, and some other things. I also went to Madrid and Rome on my own during the program which was a lot of fun and great experience.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt safe in the city in general. There were certain times areas that were not as safe as others, but as a whole, Barcelona was a great city. I did not have any health problems.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

Most people in the program spoke English, but my Spanish teacher spoke to us in Spanish. I was able to communicate with locals as well.
