I want to come back again and teach. I gained the skills I needed to do this. My cultural awareness of Rio/Brazil has grown considerably and I am thankful for this. Luke B - Villanova University View Entire Review
It was worthwhile, yes but Brazil is what you make of it, the program is not exceptional in any manner. Benjamin R - Washington University in Saint Louis View Entire Review
Yes, I highly suggest students take this course. It was a great course. Gene M - University of Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh View Entire Review
This was a life changing experience. I now look at the world in a different way instead of the small view I once had. The experience also helped me in figuring out if I wanted to become a teacher, which I now do. Mike M - University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth View Entire Review
Gave me the opportunity to earn some money to defray costs while investing in my own portuguese language skills. You will probably not earn enough money to fully pay for the trip, you will have to use some savings for the experience to be worthwhile. Knowing this ahead of time, you can make a wise decision regarding the path to... Robert L - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review

I've been here over a year now and, even though it was hard earned money spent on the course, I would do it again if given another chance. I make plenty of money now and I'm planning to move to Salvador to learn about a new city and culture. This was definitely the best decision of my life. To be honest, it hasn't changed my future plans very much. I will still return to the USA and remain on the same path I was on. But this experience has changed my outlook on things, and has changed me as a person. Samuel C - Pennsylvania State University - University Park View Entire Review
The experience impacted me a lot as it immersed me in a different culture whilst I had a lot of support from the school so as not to feel lost. With more than 20 years of experience in education abroad and language training, no one does Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) quite like Bridge. Our globally recognized International Diploma in English Language Teaching (IDELT™) program is much more than a great way to build skills as a teacher of English as a foreign language; it’s also the perfect launching pad for a stellar year or more in a country on the royal road to global prominence.
In addition to the capacities and confidence you need to be a great teacher, Bridge’s month-long IDELT™ program will help you strengthen your Portuguese, introduce you to Brazilian culture, and even find a great job when you’re done.
All of this takes place in Rio de Janeiro, a city so naturally breathtaking that when Portuguese explorer Pedro Álvarez Cabral landed there in 1502, he thought he had reached paradise.
But Rio isn’t some tropical movie set; yes, it’s bursting with high culture and the boundless optimism of a country on the rise, but it’s also a living, breathing, tangled city where 12 million people go about their daily lives.
Bridge will help you settle in; we’ll pick you up at the airport, help you find a place to live, and show you some of the most exciting places in town, leaving you to devote all your energies to growing personally and professionally as you set off on the adventure of a lifetime.
What makes Rio unique?
You may know that Brazil was founded as a Portuguese colony, but did you know that in the 19th century, this South American behemoth actually ruled over its former colonial master? When Napoleon invaded Portugal in 1808, the Portuguese royal family fled to Rio de Janeiro and proclaimed the city capital of the Portuguese Empire. By the time the royals returned to Portugal in the 1820s, Brazil had had enough; the country declared its independence from Portugal, keeping newly elegant Rio as its capital.
Though the era of empire is long past, visitors can still see evidence of this period in the beautiful 19th century buildings like the Real Gabinete Português De Leitura and the Candelária Church that survive to this day.
