Athena Study Abroad's program in Dublin features an incredible program in an incredible city. Dublin is one of the most fascinating cities in the world, a city layered with stories from a rich cultural history defined by relationships with all parts of the world. Athena's Dublin program offers students an opportunity to take a wide range of courses over the course of a semester. DUBLIN HIGHLIGHTS: Trips to other sites around Ireland included in program cost. Trips include Galway, Wicklow, and Celtic Day Tour. School and housing is situated in the heart of Dublin, just a short walk away from the city center (St. Stephen's Green and Grafton Street). Voted friendliest city in Europe by popular travel site TripAdvisor. Home of great writers such as Beckett, Heaney, Joyce, Shaw, Swift, Wilde, and Yeats. With around half of the city's population under the age of 25, Dublin is brimming with youthful exuberance and self confidence.  Population of 1.5 million, with all the amenities of a big city, yet still retains a small town atmosphere.

Athena Study Abroad Scholarships

The Benander Academic Scholarship is designed for the Athena student who can best demonstrate a true "love of learning" in his/her major area of study, and superior academic abilities. The recipient of this scholarship can be from any academic discipline, but must be able to show a strong, demonstrated passion and success in his/her field of interest.

Guidelines/Requirements:
In order to apply, each student should construct a 500 word essay that demonstrates a love of learning, academic strengths that extend beyond (but including) the major area of study, a detailed description of the student's future professional endeavors, and a list of extracurricular activities (honor societies, leadership positions, awards, etc.). 3.5 minimum GPA required Junior status or higher In order to be eligible for the scholarship, student must be accepted into an Athena semester or year-long study abroad program

The McKay Global Citizen Scholarship is designed for the Athena student who can best demonstrate an interest in and intention to promote the concept of social justice at a city, state, national, and/or global level. Because students that study abroad become many of our world's future leaders, it is extremely important that these students consider ways to become globally competent citizens. The recipient of this award must demonstrate an initiative to give back to society, an awareness of global community, and an intent to apply the skills and lessons learned abroad to his/her future endeavors.

In order to apply, each student should construct a 500 word essay that outlines his/her interest in social justice and service programs, any previous experience with similar initiatives, as well as a description of how the skills and lessons learned abroad will be applied to future endeavors that will contribute to the betterment of society. No minimum GPA requirement In order to be eligible for the scholarship, student must be accepted into an Athena semester or year-long study abroad program

The Athena Summer Service Scholarship is available to students studying abroad for a summer at any of Athena's campuses overseas. The purpose of this scholarship is to support Athena's mission of creating a service-minded global community.

Guidelines/Requirements:
In order to apply, each student must do the following: Devote a day to a service project of his/her choosing. This can be part of any ongoing service event in which the student might already be involved, or a new endeavor altogether. Athena suggests the following ways for students to find volunteer opportunities: http://www.volunteermatch.org/ http://www.liveunited.org/volunteer/ Ask his/her home school if they have has a service leaning/charity office, which can help find volunteering opportunities. Ask local elderly homes, as many have volunteer opportunities. Ask local pet shelters, as many have volunteer opportunities. Have a picture taken of himself/herself at the event holding the Athena sign that can be printed with the application form. Submit the photo from part (2), along with a the application form and a 200 word essay explaining what the event was, why the event was chosen, and what was gained from the experience. No minimum GPA requirement. In order to be eligible for the scholarship, student must be accepted into an Athena summer study abroad program.
