My French has improved a lot since being abroad and living in a residence was incredible to meet local people! - Brandeis University View Entire Review
Besides gaining a much greater grasp on French which I hope to use both professionally and in my personal life, the intrinsic journey one takes in moving to a new country and learning a whole new way of life is incredibly conducive to personal growth. - Brandeis University View Entire Review

About

Focus on French language and the artisan culture in the capital city of Paris.  This 12-week program begins with a three-week general intensive French language course during orientation.  With this strong linguistic foundation in place, the class transitions to weekly individual support sessions.  Rounding out the program, students will follow three courses (field trips and site visits accompany each course):

  • Art history: Painting, Sculpture in France in the 19th Century - explore an exceptional period and conclude with a visit of Monet’s gardens in Giverny

  • Political science: France Today - an introduction to French civics and society

  • Business French: An Economy of Creation: Discovering the French Savoir-Faire - steeped in tradition, learn the specific culture surrounding these sectors: fashion (perfume, leather goods, shoemakers); cuisine (chocolatier, wine (from producer to sommelier); art (design, gallery)

Have the peace of mind that help is there when you need it with our on-site staff: around-the-clock emergency support, assistance with scheduling therapist and doctor appointments, and general day-to-day questions.  Meet new friends and live in a foyer (French student residence) close to the APA center or choose a homestay and experience daily life with a carefully selected French host family.  Benefit from a culture package with monthly activities, a day trip to the palace of Versailles, and a weekend excursion to the Loire Valley to tour the castles.
