Senegal is a French speaking country in western Africa, along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Approximately 300 American students study abroad in Senegal each year. Senegal has a tropical climate with a rainy season and a dry season. The landscape is mainly made up of sandy plains and the Senegal river to the north. Senegal's residents are comprised mainly of French Europeans with french being the official language.
