Tufts In Alcala: The Best Of Spain

Studying abroad gave me the tools I needed to become a confident, independent, and culturally-sensitive traveler, which has served me very well in the years since. It challenged me to adapt to a new education system and to step outside of my comfort zone in terms of classes, extracurricular activities, and relationships with stu...

Alcalá De Henares: Dull, Isolated, Sexist, Racist, Homophobic, And Not Madrid

I now feel very American, even somewhat patriotic. Yes, it opened my eyes to see different cultures and their lifestyles and how that has shaped their way of thinking. The world is full of so much diversity and it is a beautiful thing to experience how other people live in the world.

My only regret about my semester abroad is that it's over. If I had realized how amazing my study abroad experience was going to be, I would've instead opted for either the spring semester (longer than fall) or the full-year.

The program was great, like I said before, deep cultural immersion with support from a helpful administration. My language skills improved significantly, to say the least.

It is cliche, but I did become more independent. I was incredibly worried about going abroad, but the only way to get over being worried is to just suck it up and go. And it turns out that there was nothing to worry about.
