Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The workload seemed appropriate for this class/experience. Teaching methods--classroom pre-travel briefings, site visits, and cultural experiences--were varied, interesting, and also appropriate for the credit received.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Our faculty leader was knowledgeable, well-prepared, well-connected to site and cultural visit contacts in our host country and best of all, flexible in approaching the international experience. This not only instilled confidence in our group's members, it also set an exemplary example about how to enjoy international travel/learning experiences.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Housing was arranged by the university's program; it was comfortable and located in a safe neighborhood that was also convenient to restaurants, shopping, transportation, the conference we attended, and other services.

* Food:

The hotel provided a full, very nice breakfast each morning. There were some local restaurants/pubs that served dinner, though not a lot of eateries/bars available late into the evening.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The program/program's advisor arranged a couple of very nice cultural trips to such places as Heidelberg and Rothenberg; each group member had an opportunity to take part in a variety of available activities independently or as part of the group.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
Language acquisition improvement?

The emphasis for this course/experience was not on acquiring German skills, the language component was simply a fun bonus to the trip. Most people with whom we interacted did speak English.

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
