I learned so much more about myself as well as various cultures while living in Cape Town. I gained independence and a new perspective of the world from my stay in South Africa. - Boston University

I wish I could have stayed longer. I wish I had hung out with more South Africans. I wish I hadn't offended so many people with my ignorance. I wish I had attended more class and studied harder. I wish I had asked for more help. South Africa is complicated and beautiful. - University of Pennsylvania
My study abroad experience was the best, and it a lot of ways I think I really got lucky meeting my group of locl friends. They were always so eager to show me around and we all enjoy traveling and driving so we would take drives to all these places. I think by making local friends, I got to go, see and do a lot more things than... - Wellesley College
Everything beyond interstudy and UCT was awesome. South Africa is wonderful, I'd go back in a heartbeat. However, as for dealing with either of those programs - I could do without that again. - University of Pennsylvania

It changed the types of law school I wanted to apply to and it made me aware of how important it is to be around intellectual black people and what that does to the learning environment. - Carnegie Mellon University

I loved the intimacy and family-ness of interstudy. I love Africa. And i wouldn't change my experience for the world. It has changed me as a person. - Tufts University

YES - I learned so much about South Africa and its history, its present, and its racial and social issues. It is a fascinating, beautiful country filled with pleasant people. Studying abroad in South Africa caused me to go abroad again, to Uganda, after I graduated. I am so glad that I studied abroad! - University of Minnesota - Twin Cities
My study abroad experience was absolutely worthwhile, I wish I could have done a second semester because I loved it so much. Not only did I have a phenomenal time, I also learned all about those who live in Africa and go to travel and see a new part of the world. I have a much better understanding of community now and feel t... - Villanova University

Absolutely worthwhile. My time in Africa had a profound impact on me, but you might have to leave Cape Town for your world to be rocked. Even if you never left Cape Town, though, you could hang out on beaches and in botanical gardens with interesting and smart people in a really amazing city and eat really fabulous food and go... - University of Notre Dame

There is no way to describe the experience and do it justice. If you are on the fence about going abroad, just go. Of course it will be worthwhile. When during college will you have another opportunity to see things completely outside of what you have made them to be? I love William and Mary and I love my friends and the communi... - The College of William and Mary
