I Love London Past Review

FIE (Foundation for International Education): London - Study and Intern Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I loved it and can not wait to go again!! Overall it has taught me a lot about myself and giving me the courage to keep on traveling by myself and making friends along the way.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

All of the instructors were really nice and fair. They really did try to make sure we got the best out of our experience. The on-site field trips were great at helping us understand the culture better. The grading system seemed reasonable. The classes were 3 hours long, which was kind of irritating.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

I had no problems during my visit. All my expectations were met.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I really appreciated the house keeping service. They cleaned our bathroom in our room, took out our trash, gave us new clean sheets, and vacuumed our room floors once a week. They even cleaned the kitchen everyday. I was really grateful for that. The rule about no overnight visitors was understandable yet annoying at the same time.

* Food:

There was no food provided during the stay. But they gave good advice where to go eat and buy food.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I enjoyed the adventure in Wales weekend!! It was a BLAST and affordable. I really liked how they already arranged everything for us and at a very reasonable cost. They also had little things for us to go on at a discounted price that I attended. I went on the London Eye, Stonehenge and Bath trip (which was FREE!!), musicals, and Hyde Park Winter Wonderland.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Health and safety issues were addressed through frequent emails sent by staff. The location of the program was really safe. I was able to go to the grocery store by myself at midnight without being worried.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I love London and can not wait to go back!!! I would reccomend this to anyone. I had such a great experience in the classroom, at my internship, and just by living there. To get the most out of this experience, I would reccomend going with a friend. Even though I met a lot of great people there, sometimes I wish I had someone that I was familiar with to go explore with. Instead of compromising with a new person on where to go and what to do.
