This program is designed for students with two to six semesters of college-level Mandarin Chinese and an interest in Chinese studies who wish to immerse themselves in a more traditional and accessible locale against the backdrop of a large developing Chinese city.

Program Snapshot:
-Improve your Mandarin through intensive language training in small classes, a peer tutor program, and by living with Chinese roommates or in a homestay
-Learn about contemporary China through a core course and work on a social research project conducted in Chinese
-Enroll in Nanjing University courses if your language skills are up to it
-Explore Southwest China in the fall or Northwest China in the spring on a one-week module; visit memorial museums and temples
