Ghana: The 5 Best Months Of My Life

This was the best decision I've made in my life. It turned my world view upside-down, shook my roots in the best way possible, improved my musicianship, broadened my horizon in every sense, and set the course of my future straight.

Ciee Legon: Life Changing!

It grounded all of the studies that I have done, and gave me some ideas about what I want to do in the future, too! I stay in touch with several friends and cannot wait to go back!

Ghana:

Yes, absolutely. It made me so much more self-confident, I got first-hand exposure to the challenges of development and working in the developing world, and my internship exposed me to an issue, electronic waste, that I was not aware of but that I've now pursued back in the US and am writing my senior thesis on. Being in Ghana ...

Ghana: An Exceptional, Challenging, Invaluable, Growing, Non Traditional Study Abroad Experience

My study abroad experience was most definitely worthwhile! Though many aspects of my time abroad were challenging, I gained insight into a more global perspective and learned how to relate to people of diverse cultures. The experiences I had in Ghana have fueled my desire to return to developing African nations in the future a...

Ghana: A Semester Of Life Changing Experiences

My study abroad experience was definitely worthwhile. I am more culturally aware but I didn't have the best academic experience. More importantly, I learned so much about myself and did start to question my academic interests.

Ghana: Slow Down, Appreciate, Enjoy

Being in Ghana really made me appreciate life and see what is really important. Children in Ghana have so little, yet they are so happy. The people are welcoming, helpful, and generous. People always take the time to stop and chat on the streets with acquaintances. In the U.S., people can go a whole day without another human int...

Ciee Legon Taught Me The Importance Of Flexibility And Laughter.

My experience abroad led to a career in International Studies and a deep passion for Study Abroad. I am now the Study Abroad Coordinator for my home institution and know that my career path was directly influenced by how incredible my experience was in Ghana.

The program was amazing. I have never experienced a completely different culture before and it truly was an educational experience. Fortunately I was able to develop real relationships with both CIEE students and local Ghanaians. In my opinion it was these relationships, rather than the classes, that really opened my eyes. T...

My study abroad experience was very trying and difficult. The basic human needs, food, water, etc were few and far between. I'm glad I had that experience however maybe not for so long.

I loved going to Ghana, it was the right choice for me but may not be for everyone. Going to Ghana made me learn to slow down and even though it was crazy and frustrating at times, it taught me more about myself than I ever expected.

It was one of the best times of my life. I learned so much about Ghanaian culture and how so many different things influence their lives in comparison with mine. I also learned a lot about different education systems and what I feel works better for me. I also learned about my capacity for stepping outside my comfort zone and re...
