CPI Heredia, founded in 1991, is located in San Joaquín de Flores. San Joaquín, a suburb of Heredia, is popular among those who wish to be away from the traffic, pollution and tension of the city, yet still want the advantage of easy access to Costa Rica's capital. Excellent bus service provides transportation from San Joaquín to both Heredia and San José. An additional advantage of San Joaquín is the opportunity to gain an increased insight into Costa Rican culture in a town that is typically "Tico".

The province of Heredia has a comfortable climate year round. Due to the altitude, night time temperatures of about 18 °C (64 °F) are quite common in San Joaquín, so it is recommended to bring a jacket or a sweater. During the rainy season, (May-December) it often rains in the afternoon so an umbrella and/or a light rain coat are essential. During the dry season, umbrellas and raincoats are not needed.

Activities in Heredia include visits to a butterfly farm, a tour of a local coffee plantation, waterfall rapelling, hiking to the Barva Volcano, rain forest canopy tours, river boat excursions to Sarapiquí, as well as trips to museums, theatres, movies, and nightclubs in San José. The staff at CPI also arranges planned excursions throughout the week. San Joaquín is an excellent base from which to visit all of Costa Rica. This central location makes travel to San José easy, where bus connections to any part of the country are readily available.

Founded in 1991, el Centro Panamericano de Idiomas (CPI) offers premier conversational language instruction to students of all ages and skill levels. Tailor-made Spanish classes offer students an interactive learning experience that cannot be duplicated. Accredited by the Costa Rica Ministry of Education, CPI boasts an experienced, university-educated language staff. CPI currently partners with a number of Universities from the United States as well as el Instituto Cervantes de España. Class sizes are small, ranging from one student to a maximum of six, allowing one-on-one interaction between student and instructor. No matter the skill level, students begin conversing from day one. Classes are communication-based, supplemented with a strong foundation in fundamental language mechanics.
