Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The workload is standard and everything is taught to you in Spanish, which is great. The only drawback is that some teachers do not openly tell you how you are doing in the class. In order to avoid that I suggest you ask for a regular progress report by having a conversation with your instructor.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

The program makes sure to put you in a safe and secure housing arrangement. If you ever have a problem or concern they will do there best to move you to somewhere more desirable.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The program took us on a tours all over Southern Spain. Trips outside of Seville and to museums and shows were included in the price.

* Health Care:

* Safety:

My host city was very safe and I never felt endangered.

* Home Institution Advising:

How well did University of Florida prepare and support you for your time abroad?

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

My host family only spoke Spanish so I was forced to learn the language. The regular citizens were very friendly as long as you were open to their culture and willing to learn.

A Look Back

* If you could do it all over again, would you choose the same program? Yes
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? If you decide to go on this trip, leave the American student bubble and meet the locals; your trip will be 100 times greater if you do.
* What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile? The experience was life changing. It shows you the different perspectives that are not always seen from the news feeds inside of the United States. In addition, the mentality and way of life is very different to some of our cultural norms.
