Ireland’s largest university, University College Dublin (UCD) is a dynamic, modern university where cutting-edge research and scholarship provide a stimulating intellectual environment and ideal surroundings for learning and discovery. With five of Ireland’s Taoisigh (Prime Ministers) among its alumni, the university has played a key role in the history of the modern Irish State and continues to play a leading part in shaping Ireland’s future. The main campus is at Belfield, an easy 2.5 miles bus ride south of Dublin’s city center. It is a beautifully landscaped 300-acre campus with strikingly modern arts, commerce, law, agriculture and administration buildings, as well as the library, restaurant, sports center, and student residences.

It was definitely worth while for me. Although I did not do as well academically as I had hoped, I had an amazing time and met the most interesting people from all over the world. I've never been in an environment where being an American is a huge minority. It was very interesting to see what other people thought about America/Americans. Anyone would benefit from this program. The Irish people are incredibly friendly, so for anyone leaving the country for the first time it would make it a lot easier for them to experience another culture. A good on-site administrator also made things a lot easier view full review

University College Dublin's experience was extremely underwhelming for a competitive academic achiever. There were six classes instead of four, but each class was shorter and utilized less class time. There was little to no homework. My study aboard experience was 110% worthwhile. I was able to learn about a culture very similar but very much different than my own. I was able to travel Europe and try things I never otherwise would have had the opportunity to do. I learned to appreciate other people views and ideas.
