Founded in 1413, the University of St Andrews is Scotland’s oldest university, and the third oldest in the English speaking world. The University is located in the mediaeval coastal town of St Andrews on the east coast of Scotland. The town, with its close-knit community, is very much our campus with University buildings interspersed with shops, cafes, supermarkets, pubs and restaurants. Surrounded by rolling countryside we also boast some of the most beautiful beaches in Scotland and access, by good public transport connections, north to the Highlands of Scotland and south to England. Our nearest international airport is Edinburgh from which students can travel to Europe relatively cheaply during breaks.
Academically, St Andrews is consistently ranked amongst the UK’s top 5 universities and is one of Europe’s leading and most research intensive universities. In particular, a number of subjects are internationally recognised: Chemistry, Divinity, Earth Sciences, English, Film Studies, German, History, International Relations, Mathematics, Philosophy and Physics.
With around 7,500 students, one-third of whom come from overseas, we have also been ranked first in the UK for student satisfaction for five years running. Students enjoy a vibrant social life in St Andrews, taking part in student societies, sports, musical and drama productions, and dancing at one of the many Balls that take place throughout the year.
St Andrews welcomes a large number of non-graduating students to our International Study Abroad Programme each year. For more information about entry qualifications, application procedures, deadlines and accommodation please check our website.

digitized review by Barnard

At this point I'd say that I can't consciously recognize any significant changes, but seeing as I'm still abroad and have yet to go back to people who knew me before I came over, there might be changes I've yet to realize.

Getting away from the intensity of Barnard, and actually being able to enjoy life a little. I really enjoyed all of my courses as well.

Generally focusing less on academics--while still enjoying it--and instead spending more time on friendships and enjoying whatever I place I was in.
