Niger is a landlocked country in the western region of Africa. Niger is mainly covered by the Sahara desert with the south being home to more fertile land. The climate of Niger is very hot and dry which fosters the large desert environment. The majority of the population in Niger practices the Muslim religion either being Sunni, Sufi, or Shi’a.
