Program Snapshot

* Engage in Spanish culture through regular University courses designed for international students; advance your Spanish speaking skills; and gain professional work experience through an internship
* Participate in cultural and educational activities, as well as excursions to Girona, Tarragona, Seville, Córdoba, Granada, or Madrid, all led by expert guides
* Learn about the complex history of the European Union and Spain's role in it
* Let CIEE Guardian Angels guide you through the city and help you feel at home

I feel like I have changed a lot. I've become much more independent and open-minded, willing to try new things, and more sensitive and aware of different perspectives and ways of life. One of the best things about this experience is that I really got to get out and see the world, undoubtedly something I will never forget. view full review

The grading system was extremely fair. The work load was less than what is expected in the United States, but it gives you a great opportunity to actually go out and see the city. view full review

I was very happy with my overall educational experience, mostly so at my host university. The work load was much lighter than I was used to, but I enjoyed the lectures and subject matter of my classes very much. view full review

I loved CIEE and everything it provided me with, but I wish I had been more challenged. I could have handled more difficult courses as well as the challenge of living on my own without CIEE there to take care of everything for me. The experience was different - we had a huge test at the end of the semester instead of tests and homework due throughout the semester. It was tempting to slack off during the semester and study at the end, but that was very stressful, so I didn't do that during my second semester. It was a tad difficult to gage how you were doing in classes because of the infrequent grading, and the even more infrequent return of graded work. Plus, once you got your grades, because it was a number system and not a letter system, it was hard to figure out what the grade translated to. view full review
