The School of Oriental and African Studies, or SOAS, as it is popularly known, is a specialist’s dream. You can choose to focus on development studies, law, and comparative religions, or music and film and media as it relates to these distinct regions of the world. A variety of languages are offered such as Pashto, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi and Yoruba, among many more unique course offerings.

While SOAS' Russell Square Campus and new Vernon Square Campus are situated in the center of London, you'll appreciate the friendly atmosphere found on each campus. With around 3,500 students, you will easily get to know many of your peers and have the chance to interact with world-class researchers and faculty. And, when it’s time for a break from all this cerebral activity, simply stepping out of the building will engulf you in the delightful chaos of London. Steps away are the libraries and Student’s Union of the University of London as well as all the resources and distractions of the city.
