API Paris: the best kind of Paris

The Sorbonne classes are challenging and manageable. You will only attend class for 2 hours every day of the week generally in the afternoon. It makes it easy to be able to get out and about around the city before class even starts! My instructor at the Sorbonne was interesting: he wrote plays in his free time and helped produce them. The workload was not technically as much as I was used to in the United States, but that's only because the French educational system expects students to be accountable for their own learning and studying for their exams from the time courses begin. I had a decent amount of daily work to do at home and a lot of independent studying to do as well. My professors were not as available as they are in America as they did not have office hours or give out email addresses. They also did not speak any English so that was of course a challenge too. I really learned a lot from my teacher. Before with French I would just learn the information and she made it make sense. Workload wasn't too heavy but I still feel like I learned a ton. Longer classes less frequent. view full review

My experience was truly amazing. I grew into such an independent person during that time, but also having the ability to get help if I needed it. My French improved GREATLY!
