The workload was very duable. It depends on what program you're enrolled in because I wasn't in culture or literature classes. I was only in Spanish language classes and so all I needed to do was study throughout the whole month and practice my Spanish in the city and with my host family and before an exam i would be good to go. the grading is between 1-10 with 1 being fai... view full review

I felt that the expectations on the part of the professors were lower than they could have been. It felt like they were shocked when my classmate and I (I was in a high level of Spanish by the end of the intensive courses and only had one classmate) asked to work on things like reading poetry and analyzing it. Make sure that you cherish EVERY minute that you are abroad. The time ends up flying by and once you are home you will wish that you were back in Spain. I left Spain with wonderful experiences and the best friends I have ever had. view full review

I love to travel. I have been all over the world, and can't get enough of it. Study abroad opens new doors and allows for experiences you could never receive at home. It is totally worth the trip - especially if you stay for the full year for the language proficiency. Always take the extra step - it's totally worth it! view full review

The experience was more than worthwhile. I was able to feel at home in another country with people I had never know before. I made so many new friends from around the world. My courses were very difficult for me because I was taking an Intensive Spanish Language and Culture course (5 days a week/4 hours per day), and I did not speak a word of Spanish when I arrived in the country. Don't be afraid to interact with locals and use your badly-lacking language skills. Most people are more than willing to help you and it is the best way to learn and effectively practice the language. view full review

The teaching quality wasn't that great. But the classes were absolutely not hard at all so that was great because we still got a chance to enjoy the social atmosphere even though we were there for summer classes. Make the most of your experience abraod. ASK people who live there where the best places are and really get involved while there. It's your time, and you need to make the most of it. Granada is an amazing city, with skiing, the beach, hiking all within 30 mintues of the city. Though API-Granada is an excellent program to be sure, any students eager to pursue fluency in the Spanish language will need to assert themselves beyond those activities and arrangements offered by API. I loved studying in Granada. I love speaking spanish and i was able to get a firm grasp on the language, even becoming fluent. I made lots of friends and travelled all over Europe while I was there. I would definitely recommend it. The culture is incredible and the food is out of this world. Definitely go to Granada, Espana! view full review

Granada is a great university town. It has alot of young people, and is relatively cheap compared to the rest of Europe and alot of major cities. It is easy to get around and is nestled perfectly in between the sierra nevada mountains for skiing, and the beaches of costa del sol, which is perfect for day trips.
