Students attend the National University of Ireland, Galway, located on the River Corrib. The institution was founded in 1845 as Queen’s College, Galway, and became part of the National University of Ireland system in 1908. Approximately 11,000 students attend the university, with 1,000 of those being international students. Visiting students can choose from a wide variety of classes in liberal arts, sciences, engineering, Celtic studies, law and business. Semester students are fully integrated with Irish students in their classes, housing arrangements and any extracurricular activities. The university sponsors over 80 academic, social and athletic clubs that provide wonderful opportunities to get to know local students.

I gained alot of friends abroad, and it's impacted me by giving me independence. I used to worry about my family too much to be away from them for very long, but now I know I can live anywhere and be okay without them around all the time. I could easily go back and live in Ireland. view full review

I enrolled in five classes while abroad. Three which contributed to my major back home (E-Commerce, Ethics, and International Marketing). Two culturally enriching classes (Intro to Irish Life and Castle Studies). All of these courses assigned no consistent HW, the grade was fully dependent on either an inclass final or final paper. view full review

My study abroad experience was more than worthwhile, it gave me courage and understanding that there is more to life, and the perspective that the world is bigger than I ever thought. My experience was definitely worthwhile. After studying in Ireland, I know I want to live overseas again. This time I'm thinking Scotland or Australia. Studying abroad really opens your eyes to larger world and inspires you with a desire to want to see that world. I am also no longer scared to try new things.
