London lives and breathes fashion, and it is the Fashion Capital that the world looks to for innovation and creativity. London buzzes with fashion stores and exhibitions, museums and galleries, markets, music and film. The contemporary scene inspires the innovative design and marketing of clothing, accessories and fashion lifestyle products for which London is renowned. London is famous for street fashion as much as for the formality and ‘Englishness’ of traditional Savile Row tailoring. It is about breaking rules and surprising, even shocking, as it draws from different cultures and from diverse inspirations to create interesting fashion from high street to designer markets. Paris is the city where couture began and the only city in the world where haute couture is created.

Programs

Our fashion lecturers are experienced academics and industry professionals. They teach Styling Fashion and Fashion Trends in a way that enables students to actually experience styling and trend forecasting through hands-on projects, using the rich fashion resources that London and Paris have to offer

Choose from the following Study Abroad Programs:

• Fashion TRENDS -In Fashion Trends you will look at how trends arise by considering macro business environmental drivers as well as social and cultural influences.
• Styling Fashion - In Styling Fashion you will explore the skills required for this growing speciality in the fashion industry.
• Journalism for fashion -Journalism for Fashion is the basis of fashion advertising copy for media and public relations (PR). You will develop a sound understanding of its role within the contemporary fashion industry. Through workshops and tuition you will expand your creative writing skills, learn about interview techniques and identify job opportunities within the industry.

I had very mixed feelings about value of the education I received while at AIU London. I believe in general the European school system is very different from the American so it did take some getting used to. I found that teachers do not give much direction, do not like to be asked questions and are not much interested in assisting students in any way. They believe for the ... view full review

Teaching style here is way different, they are always not vary clear on what they want out of you like they are in the states. Also i feel all i do is write papers here, no exams. Grading system is also confusing as well. So we will see how it goes back to WMU. view full review

I believe a fashion student would benefit the most from this program. Someone who wants to be immersed in a fashion capital. England will not blow your mind in a culture shock kind of way, so for someone who has not done a lot of traveling it would be a good place to go. The grading system was a little different than what we use here in the U.S. Also, here, almost everything we do is online...at AIU nothing was done over the internet. Felt like the technology was a little behind for these advanced times. view full review

The classes that I enrolled in were part of my major, I also enrolled in elective classes. I truly enjoyed the interaction and smaller group study enviroment. One major difference while taking classes abroad, many projects are team geared (depending on class) or indivdual project assignments. I definitely became more independent and outgoing. I also learned a lot about London and its history as well as the subjects I studied. I think now more then ever I am ready to work anywhere in the U.S. I feel I am now more prepared to work in the real world and am more confident in the way I handle myself professionally. view full review

The school was great, the teachers were knowledgeable and took the job of teaching seriously. My only complaint is the art facilities. They were very small for some of the work that needed to be accomplished, and I think that they should have some place to store students work so that it doesnt get vandalized or stolen during the night. view full review
