The object of this program is to provide students with the opportunity to develop an understanding of the historical background and current issues impacting on community life and problems in South Africa and experience it first hand through service to a South African community while earning academic credits.

The Service Learning program was incredible. The instructor/program director is one of the most incredible people I've ever met, and he made the program what it was. His methods of instruction were unlike anything I had ever experienced, very different from American institutions---he uses experiential learning to really engage students, and the group dynamics of the progra... view full review

The grading system is a bit more critical and 'harsh' than in the states, but definitely managable. Most evaluations are done by written papers and short essays periodically throughout the semester. My service learning course also included presentations, projects, reflection papers, and a final portfolio. view full review

I am beyond happy i chose to study abroad and particularly happy i chose to go to SA. I think i had one of the best experiences that is offered, and it is my hope that more people take this opportunity and that PC continues to offer this.
