Salzburg-It's worth it!!

I suggest having at least a year or two of college experience before participating on a trip like this because the inexperienced students had the hardest time adjusting to college life in a foreign country. A word of advise is enjoy... don't stress about things, they usually work out and become a great story. view full review

I hated how I was taught German. I honestly didn't learn anything in my German 102 class. They really need to cater more to US learning styles, like all of my other professors did. They need to be more repetitive and not move onto something new each day. The workload was very manageable. It was enough to keep me involved in my classes, but it wasn't so much that I wasn't able to focus attention on the experience of living abroad for almost four months. I felt that I received an adequate amount of homework for the types of classes I took and the level of those classes. The teaching methods were good-different than here, almost more laid back, but studying was still required. Salzburg: The Fairy Tale City

Teachers relied much more on students taking responsibility for themselves; we were not reminded as much to get out work done or participate in class. Study is much more independent. The grading system is definitely more flexible; however, you still had to work to be successful. Teachers were all helpful and available when you needed them. view full review

The classes were a bit of a joke. It was obvious that they were not the main reason anyone would study abroad there. I would definitely recommend the Austrian Culture class, it was the most fun and most informative. The teacher, Stephan Wally, was awesome. view full review

I gained a new perspective and appreciation for American culture, which I had previously snubbed, and I matured a lot over the course of the semester. I started the program feeling like an out-of-place teenager, but I left feeling like a responsible adult who can live on her own and be taken seriously in society. view full review
