I was able to improve my Spanish language skills, learn to adjust to new situations and I made new best friends. It made me more aware of other cultures and made me want to experience other cultures. The workload in Granada is significantly less than universities in the states (at least my university). I rarely had homework, and if I did, it was to write a 1 page paper, or complete a grammar worksheet. But, don't get me wrong, professors in Granada do expect a lot from you regardless of how little homework they give - there are still midterm and final exams, which are ... view full review

The most important thing is to be open to new situations. Be open to meeting new and different people, be accepting of a new culture. Most everything is different from the US, but that doesn't mean that it is necessarily bad. In being flexible and ready to adapt to any situation, you will have the time of your life! Make tons of local (Spanish) friends as you can so you can learn from their differences and of course, practice the language. A type of student that would benefit most from studying abroad would be a person who is open-minded to try new things. view full review

The university offers classes in English and Spanish. I learned a lot in my classes, and they were pretty easy. I loved all of my teachers. They were all so nice and helpful. They were really interested in their student. view full review

The spanish education system is very different from America, and the workload is extremely light in comparison. However, I took all my courses in spanish so even though the outside of class work amount was very low, I still was getting a lot of practice with the language, which was of the utmost importance for me. view full review

Granada is the perfect city for studying abroad in Spain. It is smaller than the bigger cities like Barcelona, Madrid, and Sevilla, yet has so much to do. I love that you can walk to everything in Granada. Granada is a college town with over 60,000 students, so it has a very young, vibrant vibe. The university itself was challenging overall, but I took two classes taught in English and two classes taught in Spanish and I regretted taking classes in English- they were too easy and actually quite boring. I ENJOYED BEING ABROAD AND TRAVELING. I REALLY ENJOYED ISLAMIC CULTURE IN SPAIN- IT WAS THE BEST CLASS I COULD HAVE TAKEN. The workload was good. Less than at UT-austin which made it easier to travel and have more free time. However, I still learned a lot in class and my professors were all very helpful. Yes. I learned how the rest of the world lived, not just the American lifestyle. I learned to relax so much more and also learned how to live without the everyday comforts that I enjoy in the States. It was more than worthwhile. I feel more aware of the world, of Spain in particular. My confidence and communication skills have improved and I have a broader perspective of the world. It was definitely worthwhile. My perspectives have opened up in so many ways. Returning home now has showed me just how much I've grown up and learned; I see very few things the same as I did when I left.
